You are the epistle of Christ

David was anointed to be king of Israel since he was a young boy but because of the condition of the current leader of Israel which he served faithfully, he needed to wait and go through a process which unknowingly would be a path of life to many people. His waiting season was not wasted or without any action but led him to the high and low situations to seek God almighty. David defeated lions and bears in the secret place but never allowed himself to take his hands against God’s anointed Saul who became his enemy and pursued him for many years in the wilderness to kill him.

David knew God of Israel since his young age and had confidence that God would prevail in all his battles, but now he needed to know God in his wilderness through trials, tribulations when nothing looked like his prophetic word and as a young leader wandering in wilderness, but yet faithful to God. He Sought his face and making an altar in every situation. We can see a glimpse of his heart and his intimate relationship with God in psalm 139:23-24 as he says:

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

We are not marked by the positions given to us or any kind of success we achieve, but we are marked by God in the secret place to have a heart like David to pursue God and make him the ultimate goal in our life. As many say “ the kingdom of God is upside down” in other words, we are not measured by the values of the world or God does not see the way man sees. If we want to understand the heart of God, then we need to seek God ! As Jesus says in the book of Mathhew 6:33:

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

I believe David would never imagine his life journey would be a guidance, a book for so many people who will believe in Jesus Christ. His life journey and his devotion is a light path, an epistle for all people to read and be filled with the fragrance of God’s love even in the old testament.

Also as we continue to seek his face and find our pleasure and true life in him, become living epistle of Christ that whoever read us will see or know God’s grace and  mercy as Paul said to the church of Corinthians 3:2-3:

“You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.”
